What can I expect at the Meet & Greet?

The Meet & Greet is where we meet you & your dog(s) for the first time. Once your vaccinations are confirmed, you will come in at your scheduled time with your dog, and our trained staff will evaluate your dog for temperament, personality, etc. This process will take roughly 25-30 minutes. During this time we will give you a tour of our beautiful facility and answer all your questions - whatever you need to make you comfortable that your dog is in the right place! Once your Meet & Greet is complete, you will schedule a Trial Session for your dog.

What vaccinations does my dog need to have?

It is required that your dog be up to date on their Rabies, Distemper and Bordetella vaccines. We will need to have their proof of vaccination on file before they attend Tanner's for any service. Please ensure that the Vaccine Certification includes the due date for each vaccine. We cannot accept Vet invoices that do not show the expiration date of the vaccines.

Does my dog need a Trial?

Yes. All dogs must complete their 3 hour Trial Session before they are accepted to join play at Tanner's. During this time, dogs will play on our fenced in patio or a separate, smaller yard with one or two dogs at a time in order to get them adjusted to the pack environment. When they seem comfortable meeting all the dogs, we will slowly move them into the appropriate play yard. Tanner's offers up to three Trial Sessions before accepting a dog. Dogs may be accepted after their first Trial, but if your dog shows any minor signs of anxiety or overstimulation during their first or second trial, you will be asked to bring them in again for further evaluation. Dogs who show extreme signs of anxiety/fear, aggression or cannot be handled will not be accepted, and you will be unable to book services. If your dog has bitten a person or another dog, then Tanner's is  not the place for you. Dogs must be able to be handled by our staff, and play nicely with the other dogs in our yard. All dogs in our care must be suited to group play. We do not offer private services.

Does my dog need to be crate trained?

It is required that all dogs at Tanner's are comfortable in a crate. Throughout the day, all dogs are given rest breaks in order to prevent overstimulation and to prevent health risks after feeding. Dogs joining for Daycare take their breaks in appropriate sized crates, while dogs staying for Boarding take breaks in their suites. Your dog's comfort level in a crate will be evaluated during their Trial Session. Any dogs that show extreme signs of distress while confined will not be a good fit to join Tanner's.

Can I book last minute overnight care?

Last minute Boarding requests cannot be accommodated for new clients. All new dogs are required to complete a Meet & Greet, Trial Session, and two full days of Daycare prior to their first Boarding stay to ensure a smooth and comfortable transition.

Existing clients may be accommodated for last minute Boarding requests if space allows. Please call our office to check availability. Please note that Tanner’s fills up quickly during peak periods, so we strongly recommend planning ahead whenever possible. You can view peak dates on the Cancellation tab.

What do I need to bring when my dog is boarding?

Dog owners are required to bring your dog's leash and food on check in day. Please pre-package food in individual ziplock bags per meal, each labeled with your dog's name. If all bags are the same, do not write the day/time on them. If you do not pack each meal individually, you will be charged a $15 convenience fee. Aside from a leash and food, nothing else is required, however feel free to bring a favorite bed, blanket, snacks and/or toys if you wish. If you forget your food or run out while your dog is boarding, we will purchase for you, and charge you for the price of the food plus a convenience fee. You may also purchase our House Food ($5/meal). Please do not bring food or water bowls. We have plenty, including slow feeder bowls. Please also do not bring any balls to keep in your dog's suite as they are choking hazards.

What happens when the weather is bad?

When there is heavy rain, snow, extreme cold or heat, we move the dogs to indoor play after shorter potty breaks outside. We have plenty of temperature controlled indoor space for the dogs to play.

In the event of extreme weather, the facility may open up to 2 hours late or close up to 2 hours early. Owners with reservations on that day will be contacted with updates. Dogs staying with us for Boarding will continue to receive full care by our on-site staff.

Do you have security cameras?

Yes! All areas of the indoor & outdoor spaces are under constant surveillance. This footage is required in order to monitor all dogs and staff throughout the day. Our cameras are not available for public viewing. If dog parents wish to see their pups while in our care, we are happy to send videos. We will always send you photos of your dog every day of their boarding stay.

Do you have strict check in and check out times?

Drop off for boarding is from 2-5pm on day of arrival, and pick up is from 9am-12pm on day of departure. If you drop off earlier or pick up later than those times, you will incur a $30 half day daycare charge.

Daycare Includes "anytime" drop off and pick up between 7am - 7pm Monday through Friday and 8am - 6pm on weekends, although keep in mind we are closed for lunch from 12:30-1:30pm daily.

Our facility closes at 7pm sharp on weekdays and 6pm on weekends.  If you are running late and will not arrive by closing time, your dog will be checked into the kennel and will stay with us overnight for boarding. We will feed your dog House Food and you will be charged for these services.

I need to cancel my reservation, what is your Cancellation Policy?

Please visit the Cancellation tab to view our policy on cancellations for all services.

I don't plan on spaying/neutering my dog, will you still take him/her?

All adult dogs must be spayed or neutered in order to join Tanner's. Un-altered puppies under one year are welcome, but must be spayed or neutered in order to return once they reach one year of age. We cannot risk having un-altered dogs over a year old in our care.

Can my dog ever be removed from Daycare?

For the safety and well-being of all dogs and staff, Tanner’s reserves the right to remove or dismiss any dog from daycare at any time if they display behaviors that are unsafe, excessively anxious, difficult to manage, or disruptive to the group environment.

Dogs who have exceeded our 12 year age limit will be re-evaluated and may no longer be able to continue with our services if participation is no longer appropriate for their health, comfort, or safety.

Decisions are made at the sole discretion of our trained staff and are based on what is in the best interest of the individual dog and the daycare group as a whole. In some cases, we may recommend additional training, modified care, or alternative services before a dog may return to daycare.
